As Filipinos around the world celebrate Christmas and look forward to the New Year, Migrante International celebrates the collective strides and victories in our campaigns this year to advance justice for all migrant workers and the broader movement for genuine democracy and societal change, all so that we may have a future free from forced migration.
We give thanks in particular to all who have continued to support the campaign to free Mary Jane Veloso from 2015 to today. Because of all our efforts in the Philippines, Indonesia, and around the world, the Veloso family can finally spend Christmas together after over a decade of separation. Let us continue to fight for the rights and freedom of Mary Jane and all victims of exploitation and injustice.
To all overseas Filipinos who cannot spend this holiday season with their loved ones back home, to migrants like Mary Jane Veloso and many migrants facing unjust detention, to all human trafficking victims yearning for the gift of justice: our season’s greetings go especially to you. We will enter 2025 all the more invigorated to work towards a society where we can achieve the justice we deserve, where we will no longer be forced to be apart from our homeland in the hopes of a bright future for our families, our people.
