STATEMENT
Migranteng Manggagawa, Makiisa sa mga Manggagawa ng Daigdig! Labanan ang pagsasamantala at pang-aapi ng Imperyalismo at Rehimeng Marcos Jr!
On the occassion of International Workers Day, Filipino migrant workers from Asia and the Pacific, Middle East and Africa, Europe and North America are linking arms with migrants and workers of the world to resist imperialism, fight for their livelihood, living wages and liberation.
Migrants and workers are mounting collective protest actions and waging struggles to challenge the capitalist system responsible for the global economic and political crises that is exacerbating poverty, hunger, displacement, violence, exploitation and oppression all over the world. Working class communities are carrying the heaviest burden from the rising costs of food, fuel and basic goods, massive unemployment and underemployment, low wages and declining value of wages, and decrease in critical social services such as healthcare.
Imperialist wars of aggression led by the United States have only intensified the suffering of working peoples and migrants, causing the deaths of thousands of innocent civilians especially women and children and the mass displacement of peoples. As the global economic crises worsens, working class communities all over the world, especially migrants are subjected to fascist terror, state violence and repression unleashed by governments to suppress dissent and collective resistance, sow fear and disunity.
Meanwhile, the Marcos Jr. regime is complicit in the exploitation and oppression of Filipino workers at home and abroad. Its implementation of neoliberal economic policies have generated a nationwide jobs, food and energy crises in the Philippines, forcing millions of Filipinos to live in misery and abject poverty, and to risk their lives, dignity and safety in search for survival overseas.
A true puppet of the U.S. imperialism, the Marcos Jr. administration has allowed the U.S. to plunder our natural resources and destroy our rich environment and ecosystems, expand its military bases and war exercises and store dangerous weapons of war throughout the Philippines as part of its larger objective to counter rising imperialist powers and maintain global hegemony.
With the acceleration of its labor export program, the Marcos Jr. regime has been aggressively expanding its labor markets, peddling and exporting Filipinos as cheap commodities to countries all over the world led by the Department of Migrant Workers and directly exposing them to conditions of human trafficking, forced labor and exploitation, discrimination and abuse, unjust detention and deportation in host countries. The Marcos regime deceives the Filipino people and the international community that OFWs and Filipino migrants are well-protected and their rights are safeguarded when countless testimonies of abused and exploited migrant workers fighting for justice demonstrate their criminal negligence.
As part of the international and Philippine working class, Filipino migrant workers across the world are organizing and mobilizing to advance their rights and hold accountable the Marcos Jr. regime, host governments and exploitative employers and agencies—from women manufacturing workers in Taiwan organizing against discriminatory policies and union busting, to seafarers challenging unjust deportation and discrimination, to OFWs in the Middle East calling for job security and protection, to domestic workers in Hong Kong demanding for living wages, to caregivers in the United States and migrant workers in the United Kingdom fighting for justice against labor exploitation and trafficking.
Migrante International calls on all Filipino migrant workers to rise up against capitalist exploitation and unite and organize alongside migrants and workers from across countries, sectors, industries, employment and immigration status to wage mass struggles to uplift living and working conditions, to fight for liberation and defeat imperialism.
Kabuhayan, Sahod at Karapatan, Ipaglaban!
Labanan ang pang-aapi at gerang agresyon ng imperyalismong US!
Labor Export Program ni Marcos, Ibasura!
