Migrante International shares the strong sentiment of hope and joy of the Veloso family in hearing the news of the official transfer agreement of Mary Jane signed by both the Indonesian and Philippine governments yesterday afternoon.
Finally, we have confirmation that we will indeed welcome Mary Jane home soon and she will witness the overwhelming support from all the people, organizations and groups who have campaigned to save her life since 2015. We thank everyone who became part of our global campaign, from the Philippines, to Indonesia and all across the globe for your unwavering support and relentless acts of solidarity to make this political and diplomatic decision possible.
We call on Philippine government officials to ensure coordination and communication with the Veloso family, as they have yet to receive any formal information regarding Mary Jane’s repatriation since President Marcos Jr. announcement on November 19.
Migrante International amplifies our call to President Marcos Jr. to demonstrate compassion for a victim of human trafficking by granting Mary Jane clemency. We invite everyone to stand with the Veloso family, support our call for clemency and justice until Mary Jane is free and her traffickers in the Philippines are held fully accountable.
