Migrante International is mourning the loss of our dear comrade, Kasama Mitchy Mallorca-Saturay who served in our Global Council since our 9th Congress held in 2023. For almost two decades, Ka Mitchy was instrumental in empowering, educating and organizing Filipino migrants in the Netherlands for genuine change and democracy in the Philippines. She was a leader and organizer in our Migrante Netherlands Chapter and contributed to strengthening our regional Chapter, Migrante Europe.

Ka Mitchy was a cultural worker and activist since the Marcos Dictatorship in the 1970s. When Ka Mitchy and her family were forced to flee to the Netherlands as political refugees, Ka Mitchy continued to share her talent and skills in theater, scriptwriting, stage directing and her passion for creating revolutionary art and culture with fellow migrant workers and refugees, young people and activists in Europe.

For her kindness, humility, generosity, unmatched energy and big heart, her tenacity and courage and ability to uplift people’s spirits and make them feel welcomed and special, Mitchy was deeply loved by her fellow comrades, friends and migrants whom she organized and supported.

We extend our deepest sympathies to Kasama Mitchy’s family, especially her husband, children, and grandchildren whom she fiercely loved very much and brought her great joy. We join them in celebrating her life and honoring her. We thank them for sharing their revolutionary mother with all our Filipino migrants in Europe who are separated from their own.

Pinakamataas na Pagpupugay Kasamang Mitchy! Mahal na mahal ka namin.
