#BringMaryJaneHome

Campaign to Save the Life of Mary Jane Veloso

To coincide with President Marcos Jr.’s first state visit to Indonesia on September 4-6, we are appealing to all sectors for full support to amplify the call of Mary Jane Veloso’s parents urging President Marcos Jr. to appeal to President Widodo for clemency and release Mary Jane on humanitarian grounds. We call on President Marcos Jr. to #BringMaryJaneHome

Mary Jane Veloso was spared from death by firing squad in 2015 as thousands clamoured for her life as a human trafficking victim. Mary Jane has been imprisoned in Indonesia for 12 years and remains on death row.
Mary Jane’s traffickers have been convicted of large scale illegal recruitment and estafa in 2020 and they still face human trafficking charges where Mary Jane will serve as a witness.
The Philippine Supreme Court has already made a final ruling allowing the Nueva Ecija RTC to move forward with the process of taking Mary Jane’s deposition.
While this legal case is ongoing, our political call and campaign to #BringMaryJaneHome is significant to heighten the pressure and urgency directed towards President Marcos Jr.
